Yard Hand

Job Overview:

The Yard Hand supports daily operations at a lumberyard by assisting with loading and unloading materials organizing inventory and maintaining a safe and clean yard environment. This role requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and safely handle heavy lumber and building materials. The Yard Hand plays a key role in ensuring customers and deliveries are served efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

• Load and unload lumber plywood and building materials from trucks and trailers

• Assist customers by pulling and staging materials for pickup

• Organize and stack lumber in designated yard locations

• Operate forklifts or pallet jacks to move materials (if certified)

• Inspect materials for damage and report issues to supervisors

• Maintain a clean safe and organized yard and warehouse area

• Follow safety procedures when handling heavy materials and equipment

• Assist with inventory counts and restocking materials as needed

• Help prepare orders for delivery and ensure accuracy of shipments

• Communicate with supervisors and team members to meet daily yard needs

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Previous experience working in a lumberyard warehouse or outdoor labor environment preferred

• Forklift experience/certification is a plus

• Ability to lift heavy materials (50 lbs) and perform physical work throughout the shift

• Comfortable working outdoors in heat cold and other weather conditions

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

• Reliable punctual and able to work as part of a team

Schedule:

• 1st Shift: 5:00 AM 1:30 PM

• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM 10:30 PM
