Core Responsibilities:
The Case Control Quality Tech reviews and analyzes Disability Determination Services (DDS) and Social Security Administration (SSA) disability claims data to ensure proper receipt and closure of claims. The positions work requires excellent attention to detail and organizational skills as well as a knack for proofreading. Responsibilities include identifying trends in errors and instructing the professional staff concerning proper coding. The work of this class is distinguished from the Disability Claims Examiner classification by the substantive medical and legal determination knowledge required of the Examiner. The Case Control Quality Technician requires the ability to perform technical analysis of medical and vocational data. Work is performed under general supervision.
Core Responsibilities:
- Reviews disability determination decisionstoidentify and correct technical coding errors for intake and closure of claims.
- Identifying and resolving minor case intake issues. This includes requesting prior folders or initiating Assistance Requests for local Social Security offices to resolve filing issues.
- Accurately prepares and routes paper claims folders to proper destinations.
- Mailing appropriate notices and pamphlets to claimants and representatives.
- Tracks records and determines systemic trends in errorstoinstruct professional staff in correct coding.
- Writes and submits reports on coding problems and production trendstocomply with state and federal mandates.
- Reviews completes enters and retrieves case control documentstomaintain accurate computer records.
- Analyzes prepares and submits case cost reportstoprovide cost control information.
- Assists with outgoing mail processing including use of inserter and postage machines.
- May assist with document validation scanning or other clerical tasks
Minimum Qualifications:
A two (2) year combination of training and experience at the advanced clerical level in hospital insurance or related coding or in the services of disability determination.
Preference given to candidates with SSA Disability related:
- Knowledge of body systems.
- Knowledge of vocational systems.
- Knowledge of the program operations manual system.
- Knowledge of Social Security Administration and department forms.
- Familiarity with SSA disability policies and procedures.
