Our opportunity is an engineering position focused on CNC machining for new products. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and launching CNC programs for all Avio Polska NPI (New Product Introduction) projects including grinding milling and EDM processes for rotor and stator parts of low-pressure turbines (LPT).
Key duties include creating validating and optimizing CNC programs for new components ensuring that machining processes tooling and documentation are ready for serial production. The role has a direct impact on first-time-right quality process capability and overall product performance.
As a member of the NPI team the candidate will closely collaborate with design manufacturing and quality engineers with strong emphasis on early involvement in new projects knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of machining standards.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define and control the production machining process including CNC programming and equipment setup for grinding milling and EDM operations with particular focus on NPI (New Product Introduction) programs.
- Develop maintain and optimize CNC programs for rotor and stator parts of low-pressure turbines (LPT) to ensure robust stable and efficient machining processes.
- Select and define cutting tools fixtures machining strategies and process parameters to achieve required quality cost and delivery targets.
- Validate design specifications and ensure proper shop floor implementation of new products tools and equipment in cooperation with production and quality teams.
- Apply best practices in manufacturing and machining understanding how the CNC area integrates with upstream and downstream processes in the value stream and supports Avio Polskas competitiveness in quality cost and delivery.
- Use technical experience GD&T knowledge and analytical thinking to solve more complex machining issues (e.g. stability surface quality dimensional accuracy) sometimes proposing solutions outside of standard parameters.
- Make decisions based on process data trial results and input from multiple internal stakeholders and when needed limited external sources (e.g. tooling suppliers machine tool OEMs).
- Lead or support improvement projects helping to increase productivity reduce scrap and improve product quality.
- Clearly explain technical information and contribute to building consensus within the team on machining process topics.
Required Qualifications
- Higher education in Manufacturing Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven hands-on experience in operating and programming CNC machines in a production environment (grinding milling and/or EDM).
- Very good knowledge of CNC programming (e.g. ISO code CAM systems) including experience with SINUMERIK FANUC or other industrial CNC controls; experience in programming complex geometries and tight tolerances will be an additional advantage.
- Good understanding of GD&T and its application in machining processes.
- Understanding of process validation including the use of dedicated tools and software (e.g. simulation toolpath verification capability studies).
- Experience in preparing technical documentation with good knowledge of technical drawings design rules and machining symbols.
- Strong English skills enabling effective internal and external communication and proper use of technical terminology
Desired Characteristics
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) including industrialization of new parts validation of machining processes and implementation of new products into serial production.
- Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software especially NX (or similar) with the ability to prepare or modify toolpaths and simple tooling concepts based on product documentation.
- Basic knowledge of WGM software (or similar systems) for preparation of production routers and process documentation.
- Good knowledge of LEAN tools and Six Sigma methodologies as structured approaches to problem solving in machining environments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical problems on the shop floor.
- Ability to document plan and execute programs and projects.
- Established project management skills.
