Overview

As a Senior Platform Engineer you will design implement and operate the Big Data services (Kafka Cassandra Spark) that power SAPs enterprisescale cloud solutions. This includes distributed systems multicloud infrastructure Kubernetesbased runtimes and automation frameworks that enable reliable scalable and secure platform operations.

Your contributions will strengthen platform performance developer experience operational resilience and the technical foundations of SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). We welcome individuals who bring curiosity diverse experiences and a commitment to reliable highquality engineering.

What you will build

• Build and automate provisioning configuration and lifecycle operations for Big Data components within SAP Business Technology Platform ensuring scalable repeatable and reliable deployment workflows
• Design and implement cloudagnostic platform capabilities that run seamlessly across major hyperscale environments including AmazonWeb Services Google Cloud Microsoft Azure Alibaba Cloud and SAP Cloud infrastructure.
• Enhance Kubernetes platform capabilities including runtime optimization and automated scaling
• Apply site reliability engineering practices (SRE) contributing to robust SLIs/SLOs and effective incident response
• Use data monitoring and telemetry to improve platform performance reliability and efficiency
• Participate in an oncall duties outside working hours supporting globally distributed businesscritical services

What you bring

You may be a great fit for this role if you bring several of the following. We encourage applications even if you dont meet every listed point:

• Background in Computer Science engineering or equivalent practical experience
• At least 5-8 years of professional experience in cloud computing distributed systems or platform engineering
• Solid knowledge of Kubernetes internals container runtimes and Linux systems engineering
• Proficiency in Go or Python
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure providers such as AmazonWeb Services Azure or GCP; OpenStack is a plus
• Understanding of system design networking scalability and performance optimization
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a collaborative proactive mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to work on complex engineering problems with autonomy and accountability
• Clear communication skills in English both written and verbal
