We are seeking a Child Welfare Supervisor 2 to join our Medford Child Welfare team.

Summary of Duties

You will serve in a leadership role working within the Child Welfare Program and have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregons most vulnerable children and families. As a Child Welfare Supervisor 2 you will:

This position supervises Child Welfare social service staff to ensure that the mission of the Department of Human Services is carried out by providing services directly to children and families in accordance with state and federal laws and good Child Welfare practice and coordinating client services with other state agencies or providers.

This includes responsibility for maintaining the cooperative working relationships with community partners and the continuous review of programs and standards which affect the quality safety and permanency of childrens lives. Makes decisions about the level and type of services provided to client families.

The supervisor is responsible for personnel management including interviewing selection of new staff staff promotions reassignment completing performance appraisals responding to grievances rewarding excellent performance and taking disciplinary actions when required.

Minimum Qualifications

A valid drivers license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.

1) A bachelors degree in human services or a field related to human services and

  • two years of lead work supervision or progressively related human services experience.

OR

2) A bachelors degree unrelated to human services and

  • completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and

  • two years of lead work supervision or progressively related experience in human services.

OR

3) An associate degree and

  • three years of human services related experience.

  • two years (of the 3 years experience) must have included lead work supervision or progressively related experience.

OR

4) An associate degree and

  • completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and

  • two years lead work supervision or progressively related experience in human services.

  • Experience utilizing data and case information to guide evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement in outcomes.

  • Experience guiding staff through organizational or programmatic change with clear communication consistency and empathy.

Policy Interpretation Compliance & Guidance

  • Uses sound judgment to address ambiguities or conflicts in policy maintaining alignment with ODHSs mission and equity principles.

  • Translates complex legal and policy language into clear actionable guidance for staff and community partners.

Communication

  • Experience writing professional reports with accuracy of information free of errors and communicates clearly.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel around the district is required. Occasional travel outside the district may be required for trainings or other enrichment activities.

  • Employee will work a professional work week where the hours of work fluctuate on a daily and weekly basis to meet service needs.

  • Travel within the state for meetings and conferences may be required.

  • You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.

  • The rotating on-call schedule will include evening or weekend work. This schedule is sent out in advance so employees can plan accordingly.

  • The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship.   • Finalists must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint-based criminal records check.
