Assistant Vice President, Europe Actuarial Group

Allied World Assurance Company Ltd. seeks an individual to fill the position of AVP & Pricing Actuary. The successful candidate will be expected to provide actuarial pricing support to various underwriting departments across Europe with the position being located in Allied Worlds London office.

The role reports into the Head of Pricing for Europe and will broadly cover the following:

Responsibilities:

• Lead actuarial pricing review for various lines of insurance written from the European offices and through Lloyds. Lines of business include property general casualty D&O E&O medical malpractice marine and onshore construction
• Research and update various pricing parameters used within our pricing models such as increased limits factors loss trend factors underlying loss costs per unit of exposure etc.
• Perform annual portfolio reviews across all class of business written through Europe Asia and the Lloyds Syndicate
• Work closely with underwriters on individual account pricing and to improve usability and accuracy of the pricing models
• Help build and maintain pricing models in Excel and Rulebook
• Any other duties as assigned by the Head of Pricing

Education Skills and Experience:

• 5 or more years of experience as an actuary preferably London Market Pricing insurance or reinsurance
• Nearly / newly qualified Fellow of the IFoA or of another well-established actuarial organization
• Bachelors degree in mathematics statistics or related field
• Proficient with Excel
• Experience using Rulebook Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) SAS R and GLM modeling would be beneficial
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to learn quickly
• Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner
• Highly skilled at dealing with concepts and complexities comfortably
• Strong ethics and integrity
