Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Core Shopping

Alexa Shopping team is looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer to drive the technical direction of shopping experiences across and the Alexa App. This is an opportunity to join our mission to build AI-powered shopping experiences that help millions of customers save time and money every day. You will design and build systems that leverage Generative AI to anticipate what customers need before they ask making shopping effortless whether customers are browsing on the web or using the app. Your work will directly impact executive-level goals and shape how hundreds of millions of customers shop worldwide.

We operate in an agile ecosystem where SDEs SDMs and Product Managers frequently connect with end customers. Our engineering team significantly influences product roadmap contributes to PRFAQs and creates disproportionate impact through innovative technology. We operate like a start-up within the Amazon ecosystem pioneering products and services that are new to Amazon with opportunities to scale globally.

Key job responsibilities
* Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians (Engineering Design Science Product Business) to conceive design and bring innovative GenAI-powered shopping experiences to market across and the Alexa App
* Architect and implement AI/ML-powered systems that anticipate customer needs and enable intelligent product discovery and evaluation at scale
* Design and build distributed systems in a large computing environment driving fundamental changes in how customers shop through voice and visual interfaces
* Build scalable fault-tolerant storage indexing and query systems that are low cost and easy to manage
* Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed
* Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical health
* Establish design principles select design patterns and mentor engineers on the team
* Influence product roadmap and contribute to technical strategy for Shopping List Grocery and Alexa App
* Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software iteratively

- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team

- 5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
