The Opportunity
The IWK Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) provides tertiary diagnostic services for the women youth and children of the Maritimes. The Department maintains close and timely interactions with our clinical and other diagnostic services. The Lab also functions as a national reference centre for selected tests and supports research and clinical trials.
The Senior Accounting Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of accounting and billing reports and the reconciliation of accounts receivable for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Maritime Medical Genetics Services and Precision Medicine.
Hours of Work
7.5 hour daytime shifts; Monday to Friday
Flexible hybrid working environment: office & remote/work from home
Your Qualifications
- Business Diploma from a recognized Community College (required) Bachelor of Business Administration or Commerce (preferred) OR a combination of related education and operational experience in a health care organization will be considered.
- Minimum five (5) years of related administrative support in healthcare preferably in a Radiology Department.
- Two (2) years of related database and/or accounting experience required.
- Training or experience in financial management of clinical practice an asset.
- Familiarity with medical/radiology reports; Medical and/or radiology terminology course an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office SAP Quickbooks Accounting Software Meditech Cerner Web and Database Programs is required.
- Banking and finance for electronic funds transfer deposits reconciliations of statements corporate Visa charges and payments.
- Keyboarding skills 60 wpm.
- Identify and escalate issues appropriately.
- Articulate and tactful spoken and written communications skills.
- Organizational planning information-gathering and monitoring skills.
- Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Judgement and decision-making ability;
- Willing to learn new software research methods and work routines quickly.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills attention to detail and accuracy excellent communication and interpersonal skills high degree of flexibility with ability to work under pressure self-motivated;
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently and with a team.
- Applies the principles of family-centred care and diversity & inclusion in all activities.
- Competency in other languages an asset.
