Were growing our Kelowna-based Electrical team and are looking for an Electrical Designer / Electrical Technician with a passion for high-voltage and utility projects. The Role
As an Electrical Designer / Technician youll play a key role in delivering overhead and underground electrical distribution designs for utility industrial and infrastructure projects. Working closely with engineers project managers and utility clients youll develop accurate drawing packages that meet technical regulatory and constructability requirements.
This role offers a strong mix of technical ownership collaboration and project exposure with opportunities to grow your expertise in high-voltage and utility systems.
What Youll Be Doing
- Develop revise and maintain electrical distribution drawings including:
- Single-line diagrams
- Equipment and layout drawings
- Grounding plans
- Conduit and cable routing
- Support the design of overhead and underground utility systems in accordance with CEC CSA and utility standards
- Assist engineers with:
- Electrical calculations
- Equipment selection
- Material take-offs and drawing packages
- Prepare complete drawing sets using AutoCAD and client or utility-specific standards
- Coordinate with engineers project managers utilities and construction teams to support efficient project delivery
- Incorporate redlines field markups and as-built information into final documentation
- Support permitting regulatory submissions and technical reviews
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to schedule and deliverable tracking
- Follow Laurens quality safety and document control procedures
- Contribute to the continuous improvement ofdrafting standards templates and workflows
What You Bring
Education & Credentials
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline
- Eligibility for or active registration with a provincial technologist association (e.g. ASTTBC) is an asset
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical and utility design
- Experience preparing single-line diagrams layouts and construction drawings
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems including overhead and underground installations
- Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) CSA standards and utility requirements
