Job Summary

Our client is a well-established legal practice in Pretoria with a strong focus on family law and labour law matters. The firm is known for its professional approach high standards and commitment to delivering quality legal services to its clients. They are seeking an experienced and professional Legal Secretary to join their team and provide high-level support within a fast-paced litigation environment including matters in the High Court.

Job Purpose:
To provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to attorneys with a strong focus on litigation processes. The role requires excellent organisational skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters efficiently while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.


REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education (essential):
  • National Senior Certificate

Minimum applicable experience (years):
  • Minimum 8 years experience as a Legal Secretary

Required nature of experience:
  • Extensive experience in litigation including High Court processes
  • Experience in family law and labour law matters
  • Drafting formatting and managing legal documentation
  • Managing court deadlines filings and legal administration

Skills and Knowledge (essential):
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word Excel Outlook)
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Other:
  • Proficient in Afrikaans and English
  • Own transport and valid license
  • Professional well-presented and client-facing
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND OBJECTIVES

Litigation Support
  • Draft and format legal documents and correspondence
  • Prepare and manage High Court and other court filings
  • Ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files
Administrative & Diary Management
  • Manage attorneys diaries appointments and court dates
  • Coordinate meetings and consultations
  • Maintain filing systems (electronic and manual)
  • General administrative support.

Client & Stakeholder Liaison
  • Communicate professionally with clients and counsel
  • Liaise with courts and third parties
  • Handle queries efficiently and professionally
  • Maintain strong client relationships

Document & Case Management
  • Organise and maintain legal documentation
  • Ensure accuracy and proper version control
  • Assist with case preparation and bundles
  • Monitor progress of matters

Compliance & Confidentiality
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of all legal matters
  • Adhere to firm policies and legal standards
  • Always maintain professionalism
  • Support overall office efficiency
