Reporting to the Divisional Finance Officer the Accountant III position performs complex accounting duties prepares financial and statistical reports delivers training to others develops and/or manages complex budgets and develops and documents controls for accounting systems to ensure the accurate recording and reporting of Finance and Administrative Affairs financial transactions. This position may be asked to support financial analysis and reconciliations for subdivisions within Finance and Administrative Affairs and may also lead and be a resource for others in their department/unit.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Develops and manages complex work unit budgets analyzing funding sources operational needs budget trends and financial commitments
Performs complex accounting and auditing reconciliations journal entries schedules and reports
Prepares and analyzes financial reports data and records identifies discrepancies investigates and recommends solutions as needed
Answers questions and provides accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and procedures.
Facilitates training and provides financial guidance to management and staff.
Forecasts budget balances and recommends corrective action as needed
Leads and executes the development organization preparation and updating of complex financial statements journals accounts ledgers and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions
Monitors automated financial systems develops and documents controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity

Compensation:
The target hiring range is$70000-$79000/ salaryofferscontingent upon skills knowledge and abilitiesasdemonstratedthroughout the selection process.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree or higher in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field orcommensurateexperience.
- At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience infinancial management budgeting or accounting.
- Experience in financial reporting and data analysis.
- Demonstrated understanding of budget preparation and management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degreeor higherin finance Accounting Public Administration or related discipline or demonstrated experience.
- Demonstrated experience infinancial managementin a higher education setting.
- Demonstratedproficiencyin financial software and systems (e.g. MS Excel WorkdayPowerBI Tableau).
- Experience with university procurement and travel systems.
- Experience advising or training staffonfinancial systems.
- Excellent communication skills asevidencedby application materials and interview(s).
