Under the supervision of the Coordinator I - School Health and Wellness in collaboration with the Principal the School Nurses major duties include but are not limited to: administering all medications including injections to students; monitoring blood sugar levels; maintaining the schools medicine log; and performing other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide first aid service to students and faculty
Attempt to determine extent of injuries and takes appropriate action whether it be on-the-spot first aid or referral to another health agency
Provide counseling and referral services for students with special needs
Provide instruction in areas of personal hygiene and disease prevention
Requisition supplies and equipment as needed
Assume responsibility for inventory and safe storage of all departmental supplies
Maintain confidential records on services provided for students and staff
Perform housekeeping duties in the department to insure high standards of sanitation
Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of and ability to perform catheterizations tube feedings respiratory (asthma) treatments and related duties
Strong interpersonal skills required
General knowledge of computers required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A current RN License required;
Documented successful experience in performing the above procedures required
Successful experience working with school-aged children
