About the role
We are looking for a friendly and reliable Catering Assistant to join our on-site catering team and help deliver a high-quality customer-focused food service for students staff and visitors. This is a hands-on role where you will support food preparation service and cleanliness across our catering facilities playing an important part in creating a welcoming and safe environment within our colleges.
Please note: This is for a September 2026 start
Actual Salary: 13966.24per annum
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (9:30am to 2.30pm)
Key responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation cooking and service of food snacks and drinks
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and food hygiene in kitchens and dining areas
- Providing a prompt professional and welcoming service to all customers
- Being visible and approachable during service periods with good knowledge of menu items
- Working positively as part of the catering team and supporting colleagues as required
- Reporting customer feedback requests and complaints to the Catering Manager
- Supporting students on placement within the catering environment
- Undertaking mandatory training and contributing to personal development
Essential criteria
- Experience of food preparation and catering service or relevant transferable experience
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
- Knowledge of or willingness to work towards a food hygiene qualification
- Ability to work well as part of a team in a busy environment
- A flexible approach to working hours across college sites

Lets Teach The LETs teach programme supports new members of teaching staff in terms of college systems and key teaching and learning areas including new staff lesson visits and postcard peeps. Each new member of staff has an allocated Lead Practitioner who works closely with them throughout the programme.
Lets Bloom
The LETs Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team capturing their experimentation in a journal.
