This isnt a management role. Its for the engineer who ships reliable code asks the right questions during design reviews digs into problems with curiosity and is building toward technical leadership. Youll work within a product team contribute to architecture decisions and grow your impact alongside experienced engineers who will challenge and support you.

This position is based in Plano TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.

What Youll Be Doing

• Design build and maintain backend services and full-stack features from APIs and serverless functions to data models and event-driven workflows

• Contribute to technical design discussions and architecture reviews bringing practical ideas and a willingness to learn from senior engineers

• Write clean well-tested production-quality code and hold yourself and your teammates to high standards through thoughtful code reviews

• Debug and troubleshoot issues across the stack API errors infrastructure misconfigurations data inconsistencies with increasing independence

• Help identify and address tech debt performance issues and reliability gaps within your teams domain

• Collaborate with Engineering Managers Product and Front-End Engineering to break down requirements and deliver features end-to-end

• Support fellow engineers through code reviews pairing sessions and knowledge sharing especially those earlier in their careers

• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response learning how to triage and resolve production issues effectively

• Communicate technical context progress and blockers clearly to both technical and non-technical teammates

What you bring

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience

• 35 years of software engineering experience with a backend or full-stack focus building and shipping production systems

• Solid experience working withserverless architectures on AWS including hands-on use of several of the following:

  • Lambdafor compute

  • API Gateway(REST or HTTP APIs) for service exposure

  • DynamoDBorAurora Serverlessfor data persistence

  • SQSSNS orEventBridgefor async and event-driven communication

  • S3for object storage

  • Step Functionsfor workflow orchestration

• Proficiency inTypeScriptand/orPythonfor backend services you write clear maintainable code and care about quality

• Experience building and maintainingRESTful APIs with an understanding of API contract design error handling and versioning basics

• Familiarity withInfrastructure as CodeusingAWS CDK CloudFormation or Terraform youve written or modified IaC in a team setting

• Exposure toobservability and monitoringtooling (CloudWatch X-Ray Datadog or similar) you can read logs follow traces and set up basic alerts

• Working knowledge ofsecurity fundamentals: IAM roles and policies secrets management and encryption basics

• Experience writingtestsat multiple levels unit and integration at a minimum and an appreciation for why testing matters in distributed systems

• Comfort withGit-based workflows pull requests and collaborative development practices

• Good written and verbal communication you can document your work explain a technical decision and ask for help when you need it

Added bonus if you have

• Experience withGraphQL APIsor type-safe API tooling (OpenAPI GraphQL Code Generator tRPC)

• Familiarity withcontainerized workloads(Docker ECS Fargate) for services that dont fit the serverless model

• Experience withCI/CD pipelinesand deployment automation (CodePipeline GitHub Actions or similar)

• Exposure toevent-driven architecturepatterns and distributed system design

• Experience in the financial services banking or insurance industry

• Familiarity withdata streamingpatterns using Kinesis MSK (Managed Kafka) or similar

• Exposure toGenAI integrationon the backend (e.g. Bedrock SageMaker endpoints LLM orchestration patterns)

• AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner Developer Associate or Solutions Architect Associate)

• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal project portfolio

• Experience writing technical documentation ADRs or RFCs
