Job Summary
Overview
Consider joining Metal Exchange as a local Truck Driver at our Moulton AL location. As a Truck Driver you will drive our over the road truck to our suppliers and customers to pick up or deliver metal.
As a local Truck Driver for our Moulton location you will have:
- Quality home time - 7 nights every week
- Monday - Friday schedule (98% of the time) with work on occasional Saturdays
- 500 miles (approximately) as the longest distance you will travel
- 3 - 4 pickups or stops per day
- A 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM schedule (typically)
- A Quarterly Safety Bonus and additional $50.00 Clean Inspection Bonus
- Eligibility for an Annual Production Bonus
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drives Moultons over the road class 8 tractor trailer combination to our suppliers and customers to pick up or deliver metal.
- Operates vehicles and equipment works in an organized way.
- Manages time with strong commitment to safety; operating all equipment safely is essential.
- Completes all required paperwork and electronic logs to ensure DOT compliance; stays up to date on and follows all DOT regulations.
- Follows all company policies and procedures; follows rules specific to the Moulton location such as lock out/tag out and all safety rules including fire prevention portable ladder and waste management.
- Uses forklift to load and unload trailers as required.
- Operates the dumper truck on the yard as required.
- Interacts with suppliers and customers to meet their needs; provides good customer service at all times.
- Performs other Duties as required.
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent education and/or experience
- Active Class A CDL License
Experience
- At least 3 years of verifiable experience driving an over the road truck
- A 3 year clean Motor Vehicle Report
- Must be able to meet FMCSA Requirements
- Must be able to meet all DOT requirements

- Communication: Must have good communication skills and reads and speaks English.

- Safety: Maintains the highest level of safety while performing daily job duties. Must have a good safety record.
- Customer Focus: Dedicated to meeting customer needs. Understands how personal actions impact the customer and MECs relationship. Knows how to listen to stakeholders and respond in a professional and helpful manner. Strives to build customer loyalty.
- Compliance: Complies with instructions. Follows company Policies and Procedures Federal State and DOT laws and regulations.
- Interpersonal Communications: Uses business appropriate communication. Clear and concise speaker. Attentive and uses active listening skills. Allows others to complete ideas even when in disagreement. Consistently aware of non-verbal messaging of self and others.
- Functional Skills: Has basic math skills and can add subtract divide and multiple two to three digit numbers.
- Understands and follows all DOT regulations; can recite and provide details on DOT regulations rules and policies.
- Results Oriented: Understands goals and works hard to achieve them. Takes initiative to improve personal productivity. Takes action and rarely procrastinates. Pursues results in the face of barriers and setbacks. Understands regular attendance is required.
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift.
- Must be authorized to work in the US visa sponsorships are not available.
- Must be able to pass a DOT pre-employment background check drug screen physical and MVR.
- Must have regular attendance.
