Job Description

The Senior Systems Engineer OnBase is responsible for the architecture administration and continuous improvement of WGUs Hyland OnBase Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform. This role ensures system reliability scalability workflow automation and strong alignment with university business processes that support student and staff experiences. The engineer partners closely with technical teams and university stakeholders to design implement and support mission-critical ECM solutions.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• OnBase Platform Administration
• Install configure maintain and upgrade OnBase environments (Development UAT Production).
• Manage system performance security integrations and high-availability operations.
• Oversee application deployments environment refreshes patching and configuration governance.
• Maintain documentation - including system diagrams operational procedures and DR runbooks.
• Workflow Forms and Automation
• Design configure and maintain OnBase Workflows WorkView applications Unity Forms and document processing solutions.
• Translate business requirements into scalable ECM designs and process automations.
• Identify opportunities for system optimization automation and enhanced user experience.
• Support & Troubleshooting
• Serve as the Tier-3 technical expert for advanced OnBase issues and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Hyland support to resolve system defects and integration issues.
• Support end-user adoption through knowledge sharing documentation and training.
• Collaboration & Leadership
• Partner with business stakeholders analysts PMO and IT teams to design and deliver high-quality ECM solutions.
• Provide technical guidance mentoring and best-practice leadership to junior engineers and peers.
• Influence architectural decisions standards and ECM governance across the department.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer science information systems or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of systems engineering or system administration experience.
• 5 years of hands-on Hyland OnBase administration including upgrades and workflow development.
• Strong experience with Windows Server IIS Active Directory DNS and virtual server environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and relational database concepts.
• Experience integrating OnBase with enterprise systems and APIs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters degree in a related field.
• OnBase Certifications:
• OCSA (Strongly Preferred)
• OCWA
• OCASA
• OCAPI (API/Integration)
• Experience in higher education nonprofit or large-scale enterprise environments.
• Experience working with APIs (specifically in OnBase)
• Experience with AWS Salesforce Jira Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working in Agile/SCRUM teams.
