Description of Work

The primary purpose of this Rehabilitation Counselor I position is to identify blind or visually impaired persons whose disability creates a substantial impediment to employment and enable them to obtain employment. This is achieved through the provision of a planned program of rehabilitation services including job development and placement services and direct interaction with employers in the community to assist the person in achieving employment commensurate with his/her skills choice interests and capabilities. The counselor in this position is primarily responsible for providing and coordinating these services to individuals who are blind and visually impaired in the counties of Robeson Harnett Sampson.

Salary Range: $43267 - $75718

Recruitment Range: $43267 - $64000

  • Knowledge of or experience in case management
  • Knowledge of or experience working with people with disabilities
  • Knowledge of or experience working with a team of professionals to help a client meet a goal

This position is funded in part through federal funds.

This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.

The Division of Services for the Blind provides services to people who are visually impaired blind and deaf-blind to help them reach their goals of independence and employment.
