Description of Work
The primary purpose of the Environmental Program Supervisor I position is to function as a Branch Head in the Brownfields Redevelopment Section. This position directly assists the Section Chief. This position provides supervision over a specific branch of project managers and support staff for a variety of diverse and complex brownfields projects with technical legal public health and financial aspects that are located principally (but not exclusively) within the assigned geographic area of the branch. The Environmental Program Supervisor I will assign the staffs workload establish and monitor the accomplishment of goals for personal and programmatic growth and facilitate coordination with other programs as needed. The Environmental Program Supervisor I will also provide technical expertise and training for all project facets from assessment remedial actions statutory requirements and land use restrictions under the program and review documentary components of the brownfields process to ensure compliance with the Brownfields Property Reuse Act of 1997. This position will support and collaborate with the Section Chief by providing direct input into the program operations including drafting program guidance streamlining the process supporting the EPA cooperative agreement(s) drafting reports assisting EPA grantees designing and participating in community and stakeholder outreach legislative review and program presentations. This position will also be directly involved in supporting budget management hiring training assignments program projections strategizing and overall implementation of the program.Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning managing organizing and directing work operations of the assigned Branch.
Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of technical staff.
Responsible for ensuring technical accuracy of Brownfield Agreements to meet the statutory environmental and public health protection requirements.
Responsible for routine communication with staff the public and the regulated community including but not limited to public speaking engagements public outreach and stakeholder correspondence.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in one of the agricultural biological engineering environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in environmental work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.EEO Statement
