Were looking for an experienced Kitchen Hand to join the Parliamentary Hospitality & Events team on a permanent full-time basis. This isnt an entry-level position we need someone who knows their way around a large high-volume kitchen can pick up what needs doing without being told and takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards across everything they touch.

Youll be part of a kitchen hand team working across multiple areas of the parliamentary precinct supporting the delivery of premium catering and events. At times youll be working independently; at others youll be coordinating with chefs and the broader hospitality crew. Were looking for someone who brings experience good judgement and a steady pair of hands.

Day to day you will be:

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and all food preparation areas to a consistently high standard.
  • Receiving checking and storing deliveries accurately.
  • Assisting chefs with food preparation as directed.
  • Keeping equipment storage areas and work surfaces organised and ready for service.
  • Identifying and flagging issues before they become problems.

  • Solid hands-on experience in a large-volume commercial kitchen environment.
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage your own workload without close supervision.
  • A sharp eye for detail you notice what others miss and you act on it.
  • Strong communication skills both spoken and written.
  • A collaborative approach you work well within a team and support those around you.
  • Reliability and professionalism in a high-profile security-conscious environment.
  • A current Food Safety certificate or the willingness to obtain one.
