SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

A Gymnastics Youth Instructor member plays a vital role in assisting the coaching and guiding of individuals or groups in gymnastics focusing on skill development safety and overall enjoyment. They help create a safe engaging and positive environment by assisting in the implementation of lesson plans tailored to different skill levels and age groups assisting in helping students build their abilities in balance flexibility strength and coordination. Responsibilities include supervising participants leading group activities ensuring adherence to program rules and fostering positive interactions among students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all District program and building health and safety procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of children and families.
  • Foster a positive inclusive and team-oriented environment.
  • Ensures student safety.
  • Teaches gymnastics classes to children of various ages and levels
  • Maintain facility areas in a safe neat clean and attractive condition
  • Communicates progress to children and adults.
  • Support direct instruction to students individually and in small groups

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Understanding of various gymnastics disciplines and the proper techniques for executing movements.
  • Understanding of child development theories and development stages and needs.
  • Familiarity with gymnastics safety protocols proper spotting techniques and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate gymnastics movements and provide clear step-by-step instructions.
  • Fundamentals of work coordination and delegation.
  • Comprehension of behavioral management practices and fundamentals.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Implementing behavioral management practices.
  • Dealing with children staff parents administrators and building personnel concerning issues and activities. Interactions require the explanation of program operational rules and working with others to gain cooperation and understanding of issues/needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
  • Lift support and spot gymnasts of various sizes during skills flips and other maneuvers.
  • Capability to stand move bend and lift for extended periods.
  • Agility and quick reflexes to move efficiently across mats and apparatuses to assist students.
  • Able to lead warm-ups conditioning drills and high-energy training sessions without fatigue.
  • Endurance to demonstrate skills and provide hands-on instruction multiple times throughout the day.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • The environment is a gymnastics center equipped with mats beams bars vaults and other apparatus.
  • The environment is often loud due to students background music and multiple training sessions occurring simultaneously.
  • Work schedules may include evenings weekends and holidays depending on class schedules.
  • Requires frequent movement including standing walking kneeling and assisting students with skills.
  • Involves hands-on spotting of gymnasts to ensure safety and proper technique.
  • Exposure to chalk dust mats and gym equipment.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of related youth experience is preferred.
