Responsibilities
Injury Claims Management
- Overseeinjury claims management for all Arrow businesses
- Manage individualcase managementwith WCB (appeals documentation return-to-work programs disputes etc.)
- Maintain current knowledge of all WCBregulationsacross multiplejurisdictions. Liaise with external stakeholders as the principalcompany incontact with respect toinjury claims. Serve as a resource to all staffregardinginjury claims management
- Assist Division management and staffby developing and providing training to ensure injury claims management best practices are being followed
- Utilizevarious data streamsidentifyclaims managementdeficienciesand develop strategies including training programs to counteract trends. Prioritize activities and provide reports to management and staff
- Work with local physiotherapy providersto developPre-EmploymentPre-FunctionalTesting (PFT) foridentifieddivisions to reduce impacton potential candidates with pre-existing conditions
- Assist withEarly Access to PhysioProgram(EAP) by working with divisions and local physiotherapy providers to provide early intervention to employees with musculoskeletal injuries
- Provide ongoing educational sessions on the EAP withstakeholdersasnecessary.Stakeholders could include employeesunionsand local operational management
- Ensure Physical Demands Analysis (PDA)are completed for all positions with the company and posted on Arrows Intranet site
- Conduct ongoing review of company PDA to ensure theyremainaccurate
- Work with divisions to completea comprehensive modified duties list
- Develop creative and meaningful modified duties for injured employees that cannot be accommodated in the workplace
- Manage Injury Management Plans for injured workers in conjunction with the employee divisionmanagement and WCB
- Track and analyze the costs and benefits of the disability managementprogram
- Provide monthly claims reports to management at all levels ensure division managementhave full understanding of claims costs and their impact on overall WCB rates
- Generate KPI for monthly Operational Report and Annual HSE Executive Review
- Develop manuals policies and procedures forclaims managementpractices andimplement them
- Periodically performWCBaudits ondivisions
Drug and Alcohol ProgramManagement
- Serve as designated employer representative and principal contact with Driver Check relating to pre-employment random post-incident and for-cause drug test results
- Communicate results with Division staff asappropriate
- Assist Division management and staff with training tied to corporate drug and alcohol policies and procedures
- Maintenance of confidential documentation as appropriate
Insurance Management
- Work directly with the Director of HSE and Operational Risk to facilitate annual renewals
- Manage andmaintaincomprehensive reports for insurancebrokers
Other
- Perform other job/administrationduties as and assigned by the Director of HSE and Operational Risk
- Travel asrequired to various divisions or corporate offices (Less than5%)
You Possess
- Minimum five years of experience in disability claims management
- A bachelors degree in a health-related field and/or degree/certification relevant to the position is preferred
- Working towards and ongoing maintenance of Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) certification
- Good knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act and regulations
- Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract
- Strong capacity for strategic thinking
- Proven leadership skills with demonstrated credibility amongst executive and management teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including planning prioritization and execution
- Ability to write and maintain company policies and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal written and presentations)
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments and local and government WCB agencies
- Proven excellence and commitment to customer service (internal and external)
- Experience gathering and compiling data and preparing reports
- Computer literacy and ability to adapt to and leverage existing and new software
- Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
