HEAD PARA ALPINE COACH


CLASSIFICATION:Year-round; Full-time

FLSA:Exempt

REPORTS TO:Para Sports Director

LOCATION:Working from Park City at least 10% of the time

TRAVEL: Approximately 75%

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

The Head Para Alpine Coach is responsible for leading the USSS Para Alpine Program at the elite level (e.g World Cup). This Coach defines and implements the vision and strategy to create the best Para Alpine Team in the world with multiple champions for years to come. With a focus on driving performance the Para Alpine Head Coach will be responsible for building and leading the Team and organizing and implementing the preparation and competition period plans for the entire Para Alpine Team.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Athlete Experience at the Elite Level
    • Set the Para Alpine Teams overall strategy culture and plans and then ensure full implementation
    • Responsible for the athletic success of the program and its athletes
    • Provide direction guidance and leadership to the entire Para Alpine Team
    • Ensure each athlete has an individual plan (annual and long term)
    • Work with the High Performance Department to design and implement the conditioning plan for each athlete and the Team and drive game changing innovate sports science initiatives
    • Communicate frequently and effectively with all staff and athletes
    • Ensure the completion of all Reports as defined by Team protocol (e.g. Preparation Period Camp Reports Injury Reports Expense Reports Athlete Reports etc)
  • Operational Excellence
    • Work closely with the Para Sport Director regarding general program goals direction plans progress and initiatives.
    • Establish the method of operation reporting structures and staff duties for the Para Alpine Team and facilitate the communications that follow those lines:
      • Manage staff via regular reviews sharing of best practices professional development plans organizational OKRs
      • Drive recruitment including identifying attracting retaining and developing best in the world talent
      • Create an inspiring high performing atmosphere that enables empowerment innovation and initiative to be adopted by all staff
      • Implement continued professional improvement opportunities for each staff member according to their responsibilities and needs
      • Ensure effective operational logistics scheduling coordination and communication of all athlete and/or coach preparation/competition/project schedules
      • Drive the creation and implementation of Team Criteria and Team naming
  • Financial Performance
    • Oversee track and manage the Teams budget
    • Ensure regular and timely expense reporting from all staff and athletes which conforms to the reporting standards established by the CFO

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Incumbents must be able to lift up to 25 pounds (50 with assistance) climb stand stoop and work outside in all weather conditions. Job requires travel and work on weekends nights holidays and on-call basis.

  • A minimum of 10 years experience inalpine coaching
  • Excellent at building relationships being collaborative listening and communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • A mindset for thinking outside of the box and pushing the boundaries to achieve excellence
  • Level 400 coach or the equivalent
  • Ability to accurately evaluate critical success factors for alpine athletes at the elite level
  • Proven ability to prepare and execute a successful athletic plan for alpine skiers at the elite level
  • Competent at traveling throughout the European Alpine region with a group
  • Strong budgeting and expense management skills proven ability to deliver a program on budget
  • Capable computer skills including email Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong team player with a demonstrated loyalty to the program and the organization
