We have an exciting opportunity for aSenior Workerto join the HMPYOI Portland/ HMP The VerneSubstance Misuse Psychosocial Interventions Servicewho has theskills and experience to engage our service users ensuring that they access the right intervention at the right time in a way that best meets their needs.
The Senior Worker will help support a recovery culture within the team and across the wider prison utilising their expertise to help continually develop the service and support the team and people using the services.
This role will work with the Team Leader to build partnerships that will help support the recovery process and continuity of care after release. You will also cover for the Team Leader in their absence.
You will lead the teams approach to Peer Mentoring including capturing all key data and line managing volunteers and Support Workers at relevant sites. You will help ensure that recovery pathways in the prison are visible and effective all the way from induction to release and beyond. This post is new and is being introduced following additional funding for our Recovery Services.

Where: This role is split between HMPYOI Portland/ HMP The Verne

Hours: 37.5 per week

Contract: Permanent

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the role:

  • Identify and engage with people who have substance misuse problems with complex physical and / or mental health needs including co-morbidity.
  • Support the development of service-based recoverycommunities.
  • Assistand carry outappropriate screeningprocesses including DBST urine and saliva tests after completion ofappropriate trainingor demonstration of relevantexperience.
  • Support the Team Leader to carry out case file audits and ensure findings encourage a culture of learning within theteam.
  • Engage in regular consultation with service users tomaintainthe quality of the service supporting staff by encouraging service userengagement.
  • Provide health education especiallyregardingharm minimisation blood bornevirusesand overdoseprevention.
  • Ensure that all aspects of confidentiality are adheredto.

About you:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a relatedfield.
  • Knowledge and experience of multi-agency working andestablishingpartnerships with other professions to achieve good outcomes for the service usergroup.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to individuals and groups in a way that is easilyunderstood.
  • Written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of personal IT competency. The ability to accurately update andmaintainrecords ina timelyfashion and to work to deadlines for the submission ofinformation.
  • Excellent team working and interpersonal skillsmaintaininga highly cooperative approach to supporting colleagues in delivering serviceobjectives.
