Primary Purpose:
Provide a safe and secure environment for students staff and visitors during district- sponsored events athletic competitions and board meetings. Reserve officers supplement the full-time department staff in the protection of life and property and the enforcement of State and Local laws within the districts jurisdiction.
Qualifications:
TCOLE Licensing: Active and valid Peace Officer license issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Documentation: Must provide a valid TCOLE L-2 (Medical/Drug) and L-3 (Psychological) certificate.
Certification: Must obtain Texas School-Based Law Enforcement (SBLE) proficiency within 180 days of appointment.
Clearance: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation fingerprinting and a $1000 surety bond (District provided).
Skills: Ability to work effectively with students and adolescents; strong conflict resolution skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain high visibility and provide security at extracurricular activities sporting events and campus functions.
- Enforce Texas Penal Code and Texas Education Code within the Districts jurisdiction.
- Perform crowd control and traffic management at large-scale district events.
- Deter investigate and report criminal activity occurring on district property.
- Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate law enforcement action as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment: Work is performed mostly outdoors at athletic stadiums or indoor school
facilities. Frequent standing walking and potential for physical exertion in emergency
situations. Availability for evening and weekend shifts is required.
HR Note: This position is classified as a Reserve Peace Officer under Texas Education Code 37.081. This is an at-will event-based position and does not qualify for TRS membership or full benefits unless otherwise specified by District policy.

Tools/Equipment Used: District vehicle firearms handcuffs security equipment two-way radios alarm system and other security equipment fire extinguisher and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing
Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing; frequent keyboarding/mouse prolonged driving
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (1544 pounds)
Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather) moderate exposure to noise frequent districtwide travel
Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions including violent and armed confrontations; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
