Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for entry level Systems Engineer I roles in our Military Avionics Flight Management department located in Cedar Rapids Iowa.
Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of flight management software applications. This position may require the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30am to 4:30pm workday or beyond a 40-hour work week.
Product Summary:
CAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions - Our signature products for Military Avionics as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics System fielded on thousands of aircraft today at this moment. Specific capabilities include FMS (Flight Management Systems) and Tactical Communication. Heres a couple links to more details:
- You Will Do
- Work within a team of Systems and Software engineers to design develop and test software features for flight management systems that are integrated into military helicopters and planes
- Grow knowledge of Systems Engineering and Flight Management Systems
- Integrate soft skills (leadership communication coordination proactiveness) into a dynamic environment that provides quality and timely products to internal and external customers.
- Travel (domestic and international <10%) as needed.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelors degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) such as Software Engineering obtained prior to start.
- Experience with C C ADA and/or Python.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (Classified as a US Person) if needed after day 1.
Experience may be obtained through onthejob experience research coursework or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Ability to draft System and/or Software Requirements
- Pilot/Avionics Experience (i.e. Private Pilot Aircraft Maintenance DO-178 Certification)

The salary range for this role is 57200 USD - 108800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
