About the Role
The Senior Lecturer specialising in Power Systems Engineering will contributing to research teaching and professional activities in the school. The successful applicant will also as part of the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER) contribute to fostering excellence in research and industry collaboration in the field of advanced energy integration.
Energy integration is one of several global social and engineering trends that will shape the solutions to the key challenges of the next decades: resource stress climate change megacities urbanisation cybersecurity and infrastructure resilience are major factors driving complexity. Advanced energy integration is an umbrella concept that encompasses activities tackled in the context of renewable energy systems and our shift to a distributed energy grid.
About you
You are dedicated and forward-thinking with expertise in Electrical or Electronics Engineering ready to contribute to a thriving academic environment. You bring a strong research experience in power systems engineering and a passion for advancing knowledge and practice in your field.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Completed a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing in Electrical or Electronics engineering with significant research experience in the power systems engineering field.
- Demonstrated record of high-quality contribution to research with a focus on the integration of renewable and distributed energy technologies and their impacts on electricity supply system resilience.
- Demonstrated recent capacity for independent research funding success; contributing as a chief investigator including collaborations which create new insights and opportunities for more junior researchers.
- Skills in active and effective record of supervision honours and masters research projects and primary supervision of Higher Degree by Research students with timely completions.
- Demonstrated recent ability to contribute at undergraduate honours and postgraduate levels in the specialist areas of power systems engineering taking responsibility for the preparation and delivery of course modules and coordinating one or more courses including collaboration in curriculum design and delivery where appropriate.
- Demonstrated recent leadership in learning and teaching activities including undertake program convening and course coordination having a central role in course and curriculum development and peer mentoring at undergraduate honours and postgraduate levels.
- Demonstrated outstanding performance in a range of higher-level internal duties providing a strong contribution to external activities and developing international collaborations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including an inter-disciplinary way of working capacity to build relationships and engagement with industry stakeholders.
