General Summary

This is a full-time 9-month faculty position. Responsibilities include instruction course and curriculum development professional development service to students and service to the college and community. The faculty member willfacilitateclassroom instruction; evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic support;maintainattendance and grade records; advise students on academic and career goals; support student retention efforts; andmaintainrequired classroom and office hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Instruction: Teach theAESTHETICScourse at the Chattanooga campus. Facilitate the classroom instructional process; evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academicassistanceto students;maintainattendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work toretainstudents;maintainrequired classroom and office hours.

  • Course and Curriculum Development:Participate in the selection of textbooks equipment supplies and other learning resources; develop supplemental instructional materials; use current technology in preparation creation and delivery of instruction; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi; develop and maintain a site on the colleges Learning Management System (eLearn) platform where class documents are stored (syllabi classroom information quizzes tests etc.) and available for students to access at any time.

  • Professional Growth: Remain current within instructional field and technologies;acquiremaintain and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations;participatein the annual faculty evaluation process.

  • Service to Students:Comply withFERPA laws;participatein advising recruitment admissions and orientation of potential students;assiststudents with job placement upon graduation; support student activities including SkillsUSA and NTHS.

  • Service to the College and Community: Assist inrecruitment;attend convocation and commencement exercises andparticipatein mandatory college programs; develop andmaintainpositive and cooperative relationships with colleagues;maintainan active program advisory committee; complete the annual Council on Occupational Education (COE) report for the other duties as assigned.

Holistic Student Support

  • Familiarity with holistic support for students outside the classroom. These supports include Admissions and Records Enrollment Service Center TCAT Student Services High School Programs Recruiting and Orientation Career Services Student Support Center Student Conduct Student Life Multicultural and International Services Adult Student Services and the Center for Access and Disability Services.

  • Ensure that services and activities promote accessibility and reflect equity-minded practices.

Organizational Culture

  • Provides student- and community-focused support in the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Division that aligns with the Colleges core values.

  • Supports the Colleges commitment to creating a welcoming and respectful environment and contributes to the TCAT Divisions efforts to implement effective and thoughtful practices.

  • Offers responsive and consistent services and support for students faculty and staff.

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

  • Demonstrate teaching excellence by using evidence-based instructional practices that support student learning.

Position Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from a postsecondary institution with a diploma in Aesthetics or Cosmetology

  • Licensure:Possessa current Tennessee Aesthetics or Cosmetology license. Possess or be willing toacquireaninstructors license.

  • Experience:Three years experienceas anaesthetician.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associates degree and full-time teaching experience

  • Morethan 3years progressive experience in theAesthetics/Cosmetologyfield

KnowledgeSkillsand Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the Aesthetics industry and Aesthetics license processes; highly effective communication skills;high levelof computer skills; willing to work extra hours to support college and community events.

  • Maintains a comprehensive grasp on thearea(s)of academic study.

  • Exhibits a commitment to promoting academic excellence in students.

  • Demonstratesa high levelof self-discipline and self-motivation.

  • Exudes a positive supportive and cooperative disposition towards others.

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about equity-minded principles and practices related to supporting students.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:Full-time faculty position 9-month employment contract requires a four-day workweek and includes a minimum of 37 1/2 hours per week. Other conditions of employment are described in the Chattanooga State Employee Handbook.

Salary:Commensuratewith experience and according to salary guidelines of the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Salary Range: $40715 - $48859

Work Hours:Monday Thursday(2:00-9:30)
