Job Summary

The opportunity:The Financial Services department ensures that all accounting functions for our association are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This role will oversee and manage all financial operations of the association including but not limited to financial reporting forecasting budgeting and analysis to support strategic decision making across the organization. The Financial Controller will support the Chief Financial Officer in short and long-term planning ad hoc reporting Board package preparation cash and investment management and will also be the finance ambassador to the rest of the this role you will: Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and Y CanadaDemonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/MuskokaEffectively manage the Financial Services teamReview and update finance processes and documentationIdentify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and uphold financial controlsAssume ownership of and manage the full accounting cycle for the associationCoordinate plan and manage the annual budget process with the Chief Financial OfficerCoordinate and prepare year-end working papers and financial statementsManage relationships with the external auditors and take the lead role in the annual financial and program auditsManage banking and vendor relationshipsDevelop and in-depth understanding of the financial systems to fully leverage their capabilitiesPrepare and submit all YMCA and regulatory reporting/filings (including GST/HST returns T3010 annual charity return etc)Ensure compliance with all provincial and federal legislation relevant to the roleSupport the Chief Financial Officer and Leadership Team by preparing the monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages and providing ad hoc reporting as requiredRepresent the Financial Services department in cross-departmental initiatives and act as a trusted partner within the organizationYou bring:Excellent accounting analysis and operations skills (generally acquired with 10 years of Accounting/Finance experience5 years of experience leading a teamExperience working in a complex organization; public accounting and charity experience preferredStrong technology skills and experience with software implementationsFamiliar with Microsoft Office 365 (with advanced Excel skills) and SharePointPreference for the following experience: Oracle-NetSuite Salesforce/Avocado Power Bl RBC Express Moneris Bambora OCCMSExcellent interpersonal skills necessary to build relationships with internal staff leadership and external partiesHigh level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientationStrong critical thinking and sound judgement with a problem-solving mindsetProfessional accounting designation (CPA CMA CA CGA) and a bachelors degree (or higher) in Accounting or FinanceWillingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including:AODA TrainingHealth & Safety Awareness TrainingBill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) TrainingPCI ComplianceWHMISChild Safeguarding OrientationStandard First Aid with CPR C/AED certificationWillingness to be able to work flexible hours based on client needsClear Police Reference CheckAbility to work flexible hours based on organizational needsWhy work for the Y:At the YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka we believe in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members and staff.
