Job Summary
In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree diploma or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being this case the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in valid Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.

The Career Center is a dynamic department that is at the forefront of the institutional mission and is seeking strong student leaders to represent the office as ambassadors while supporting the daily operations of the office.The Career Center Ambassador will support the career staff and career communities with events and programs based on areas of expertise as well as provide stellar customer service at the office front most situations the ambassador will be the first point of contact for current and prospective students families alumni employers and faculty/staff inquiring about our resources and attending appointments meetings and events.
This is a unique opportunity where students can learn more about using tools and strategies to explore and develop their own career and pursue their own more focused professional development goals (see tracks below) within your role as an Ambassador while also helping the Berklee community. Our student employees should be interested in gaining and sharing detailed knowledge about the resources we offer job and internship search techniques arts industry employers and related topics. They should also be comfortable being ambassadors of the Career Center for the rest of the student body as well as being the face of Berklee and the Career Center.
Student employees hired for this position will be hired under a 3-month probationary period. This is to ensure that this position is the right fit for the student and employer. All hired students will go through a post-semester evaluation to assess their employment status and discuss their professional track of focus for the project-based elements of their work (tracks at bottom of description).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Office Duties
Provide superb front desk reception involving actively greeting office visitors and assisting them with appointment check-in answering questions and referring to staff members or other offices as necessary
Answer main office phone professionally fielding inquiries from students alumni and employers seeking to hire Berklee students as well as staff and faculty across campus
Assist students and alumni in using the Berklee Career Manager to make career advising appointments and search for jobs/gigs/internships and alumni mentors
Assist employers in using the Berklee Career Manager to list jobs/gigs/internships
Open and close the office including organizing and tidying to keep the space presentable
Event Assistance
Assist in planning marketing and hosting career-related events as needed
Be aware of and able to promote career events internships and job opportunities on and off campus
Projects
Complete miscellaneous projects as needed such as researching typing and editing documents photocopying and filing and other duties as assigned
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Strong communication skills: ability to clearly and concisely explain policies and procedures in person by phone and by email
Customer service skills: ability to maintain a friendly helpful positive and professional attitude and behavior; anticipate and meet customers needs
Professionalism including: respectful and polite on time and reliable and ability to communicate appropriately with supervisor other staff and outside constituents
Ability to quickly learn detailed procedures databases and software
Ability to follow directions and strong attention to detail in project execution
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions
Comfortable working with diverse coworkers and constituents
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
Previous office and/or customer service experience strongly preferred
Previous active participation in Career Center programs and resources preferred
Knowledge of the Career Centers resources and programs like the Berklee Career Manager
Knowledge of the Berklee community and campus departments and resources
Familiarity with Google Mail Google Drive Google Calendar Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) iWork (Pages/Numbers) Powerpoint/Keynote
Experience with marketing via social media (ex. Facebook Instagram)
A willingness to be proactive and take initiative in order to seek out new projects or suggest new ideas or different approaches
Career Center Ambassador Professional Tracks:
The project tracks within the Career Center Ambassador role provide a unique opportunity to develop and grow as a leader and contributor within the Career Center and Berklee community. Your track will be determined through a combined process of your expressed interest demonstrated competencies and department needs.
General Administration
Project lead on Berklee Career Manager job board and frontline services
Assist staff in analyzing interpreting and organizing data collected from events using Excel/Google Sheets to report and develop better strategies for future events
Create and edit events update career outcomes of College and Conservatory Alumni manage and update walk-in data and Assist Alumni Affairs in creating and updating manually created alumni accounts on Berklee Career Manager
Research collect analyze and edit information for writing projects as assigned. This may include writing for Career Center-related resources or for internal purposes
