Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead and oversee surgical operations within a high-volume acute care environment. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient-centered care through effective management of clinical operations staffing budgeting and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will drive excellence in patient outcomes operational efficiency and team performance.
Responsibilities:
Clinical & Quality Oversight:
Ensure delivery of safe high-quality patient care across surgical services
Implement evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes
Maintain compliance with regulatory legal and accreditation standards
Optimize patient throughput and care coordination
Leadership & Operations:
Oversee daily operations staffing and workforce planning
Lead mentor and develop leadership team and staff
Foster a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement
Develop and implement policies and procedures
Patient Experience & Service Excellence:
Drive initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and service quality
Promote a patient-centered culture across all service lines
Strategic Growth & Program Development:
Identify opportunities for service line expansion and operational growth
Collaborate with executive leadership and physicians to enhance programs
Financial Management:
Manage departmental budgets forecasting and financial performance
Monitor labor productivity and control operating expenses
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality care
Operational Overview:
Reports to: VP of Operations
Direct Reports: 4 Managers
Team Size: Approximately 125150 FTEs
Facilities:
11 Operating Rooms
2 Endoscopy Suites
Case Volume: 400 cases per month
Service Lines Include: General Surgery Bariatrics Colorectal Heart & Vascular Orthopedics & Spine Urology
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Minimum 3 years of acute care Surgical Services experience
Minimum 1 year of Director-level experience in Surgical Services
Strong leadership operational and strategic planning skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree (MSN MHA or related field)
Experience managing large teams in a high-volume surgical environment
Proven success in quality improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
