Duties & Responsibilities

• Provides legal advice to business leaders to ensure their activities policies business practices and transactions comply with all relevant laws and regulations with a focus on financial services regulation and derivatives. Knowledge of sanctions laws would be preferred.

• Drafts and negotiates legal documents such as regulatory filings contracts agreements and correspondence of legal significance.

• Monitors analyzes and responds to legislative and regulatory developments to ensure they are adequately addressed.

• Represents the organization in complex controversial significant or specialized legal proceedings before courts government agencies or other authorities so the organizations interests are protected.

• Maintains a high level of expertise in applicable areas of the law Vanguards business and the investment industry. Stays abreast of industry and regulatory developments affecting Vanguard and maintains affiliations with relevant industry compliance and risk associations.

• Coaches junior staff and helps resolve problems.

Qualifications

• 8 years or more related legal work experience is preferred. Less experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis

• Law degree (JD) required

• Finance Industry experience (desired)
