General Role Description
The Project Designer / Project Engineer provides creative and proactive solutions for our clients and their projects. The role collaborates with other design disciplines to ensure a complete design solution. The role takes direction from the Senior Project Designer / Senior Project Engineer and incorporates all design decisions into the design documents. This role is responsible for the day-to-day design production and collaboration for all sizes of projects. This role is a resource to the Senior Project Designer / Senior Project Engineer and should proactively assist in accomplishing the overall goals of the project.
This position reports to the Senior Project Designer and/or Senior Project Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with projects of varying complexity ensuring timely completion of design tasks within budget and schedule.
- Collaborate with clients consultants and internal teams to deliver programming conceptual and detailed design solutions.
- Manage multiple project timelines effectively and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
- Work within the agreed upon design workflow for the project design team. Ensure timely completion of design tasks within their individual assigned budget; adjust timelines to ensure timely delivery.
- Serve as secondary client contact: respond promptly to emails facilitate meetings resolve design issues and coordinate internal team participation in meetings and calls on select projects.
- Be an active participant in design meetings to resolve design issues and build consensus.
- Attend site visits as needed and document findings.
- Ensure design materials comply with applicable codes regulations and project specific requirements.
- Review construction documents shop drawings and RFIs for alignment with design intent and client objectives.
- Understand the scope of the project and bring additional scope request(s) to the attention of the Senior Project Designer and Senior Project Engineer.
- Assist senior team members with design risk management and resolution.
- Be active in industry and/or client related organizations
- Establish relations with peers at the Clients firm to yield repeat work
- Contribute project-specific content for select RFPs and support client presentations.
- Continue developing expertise in power lighting and technology design while adhering to quality control procedures.
- Complete internal education programs and foundations for each studio they are involved with.
- Continuously develop consulting skills while working with clients and internal team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
- An undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- 2-5 years of professional experience working in an architectural / lighting or MEP firm with an emphasis on electrical systems design
- The capability to apply Electrical Engineering and Lighting Design principles to projects of all sizes and categories
- Experience with AutoCAD REVIT and Bluebeam
- Capable of managing your time and activities for optimum productivity
- The talent and adaptability to work well with people at all levels of the organization
- A desire to build relationships and work directly with our clients - this is key to your success
