Buyer – CNC Manufacturing

Reata Engineering & Machine Works is a precision CNC machining and assembly company serving the medical aerospace & defense and semiconductor industries. We specialize in complex tight-tolerance components and operate in a fast-paced high-mix manufacturing environment.

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Buyer to support day-to-day purchasing and supplier coordination.

This role is critical to keeping production on trackyou will be responsible for placing orders managing vendors expediting materials and ensuring on-time delivery.

This is an execution-focused role with visibility into all areas of the business and opportunity to grow into a senior or leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Execution

• Create and manage purchase orders for:
  • Raw materials (aluminum stainless specialty alloys)
  • Outside processing (anodize plating heat treat etc.)
  • Subcontract machining
• Ensure correct revisions certifications and requirements are included on POs

Vendor Coordination & Expediting

• Track open POs and confirm vendor delivery dates
• Proactively follow up on late orders and resolve issues
• Communicate delays and risks that impact production

Supplier Support

• Work with existing vendors on pricing lead times and performance
• Support onboarding of new suppliers as needed

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Production Engineering and Quality
• Help resolve material shortages and schedule conflicts

ERP / System Management

• Maintain accurate vendor and PO data in ERP
• Update delivery dates and notes based on vendor communication

Qualifications

• 25 years of purchasing or buying experience (manufacturing preferred)
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills (vendors internal teams)

Preferred Experience

• CNC machining or metal manufacturing environment
• Experience with raw materials and outside processing vendors
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings
