Job Summary

Position Summary:

The Director of Student Engagement provides vision leadership and supervision for the CoRE Center staff and activities including campus programming multicultural programs Associated Students & Faculty (AS&F) student government and orientation. The Director reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs and supervises two professional staff.

Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)

  • Supervises all direct reports in regard to daily operations annual reports and assessment plans and program development.

  • Develops opportunities for professional growth and development for department staff members.

  • Advocates for the needs of the student body and develops initiatives that build community engagement and retention and actively fosters a campus climate that is welcoming and supportive of the student body.

  • Advises the Associated Student & Faculty Government (AS&F). Supports AS&F officers in the implementation of major campus events political awareness initiatives and civic engagement efforts.

  • Creates seamless co-curricular offerings that integrate with academic programs to provide real world experiences. Encourages open communication with and among campus constituencies and acts as an advocate on issues concerns and problems related to student life.

  • Works closely with Facilities Services and appropriate others regarding renovation and management of existing facilities and construction of facilities managed by the CoRE Center.

  • Serves on University and division committees as needed. Attend and/or present at professional conferences workshops and training seminars as a representative of ASU to acquire best practice models and future trends in Student Affairs and higher education.

  • Plans and executes major campus community building events and other campus special programs that benefit the student body and advance the University.

  • Works closely with campus colleagues to proactively recruit and provide services to retain students admitted to the University.

  • Works closely with academic departments student services faculty and staff to implement a successful long-term relationship plan. Build strategic partnerships with division of Student Affairs colleagues faculty and other campus partners.

  • Maintain communication with community organizations to implement student engagement activities. Represent the University at community and outside organization functions including University events college/career fairs and conferences.

  • Work collaboratively with Institutional Research to facilitate assessment and reporting efforts.

  • Develop monitor and maintain administrative policies relating to co-curricular operations.

  • Demonstrate self-awareness of ones own cultural beliefs perspectives and privileges as a part of ones orientation toward leadership.

  • Maintain a bias toward decision-making that is informed by research data and their that leverages students unique cultures experiences and backgrounds as strengths.

  • Build a culture of collaboration teamwork and over-communication that fosters collaboration within and across departmental lines.

  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

  • Earned Bachelors Degree in higher education administration business counseling or a related field.

  • Five (5) years of related experience in increasingly advanced roles in higher education.

  • Proven record of progressive responsibility supervising professional staff.

  • Ability to treat others with respect civility and courtesy and to work honestly effectively and collegially with employees students and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of student financing enrollment marketing and recruiting concepts and best practices recruiting technologies and vendor services.

  • Proven record of implementing multicultural or student activities programming.

  • Proven record of experience and leadership in the development and implementation of Student Activities or multicultural services plans designed to increase student persistence.

  • Demonstrated experience in assessment.

  • Three (3) years of experience specific to supervision and budget oversight.

  • Experience with internal and external communities with high cultural and ethnic diversity.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a strong and talented team.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $52200-$62600.
