Position Overview:

West Monroe is seeking a senior technically grounded Managing Director to serve as theTechnical Account Lead for a largeCA IOU working in close partnership withthe AccountLead to deepen and expand one of the firms most strategic utility relationships.

This role is purpose-built for a leader whooperatesat theintersection of client intimacy technical credibility and commercial growth.You will be embedded in theutility clientaccount developing a deep understanding of the clients most complex technology and grid challenges and translating those challenges into actionable opportunities for West Monroe.

You will act as thetechnical tip of the spearengaging credibly withutilitystechnology and grid leadership pressure-testing problem statementsidentifyingdownstream implications and mobilizing the right experts from across West Monroes Technology & ExperiencePracticeand broaderFirm.

Success in this role requires the ability toconnect dots faster than the client shape solutions before they are fully defined and convert technical insight intomeasurable revenue growth and long-term partnership value.

Key Responsibilities:

Utility Account Technical Leadership

  • Serve as theprimary technical advisorandthought partnertoutility accountacross IT OT and grid modernization domains
  • Develop adeep first-hand understandingofthe utilitystechnology landscape constraints and strategic priorities
  • Engage directly withutilitysstakeholders (CIO CTO grid operations engineering and architecture teams) withhigh technical credibility
  • Deconstruct client challenges into root causes risks andtechnical and operational implications
  • Proactivelyidentifywhite space opportunities byanticipatingneeds acrossutilitys T&D and enterprise technology ecosystem

Opportunity Shaping & Solution Orchestration

  • Translateclient problems intowell-defined actionable opportunitiesaligned to West Monroe capabilities
  • Act asthe bridgebetweenutilitiesand West MonroesTechExpractice bringing the right SMEs architects and delivery leaders into the conversation at the right time
  • Shapeandco-develop solutionsthat are technically sound commerciallyviable and differentiated
  • Lead or support proposal development solutioning and deal strategy for complex engagements
  • Ensure continuity fromproblem identification->solution shaping->deal closure->delivery alignment

Commercial Ownership & Growth

  • Ownanddeliver against revenue targetsspecific to theutilityaccount
  • Partner with the Account Lead to define and execute amulti-year account growthstrategy
  • Expand West Monroes footprint into new buying centers throughtechnical credibility and insight-led selling
  • Drive pipeline development throughproactive client engagementandopportunity identification

Preferred Technical Domain Focus Areas

  • Grid & OT Systems:ADMS EMS DERMS SCADA outage management grid-edge integration
  • Enterprise Platforms:SAP/Oracle (ERP EAM) asset management work management systems
  • Data Cloud & AI:Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) data architecture advanced analytics AI/ML for grid and asset intelligence
  • Grid Modernization:DER integration electrificationreliabilityand resilience programs
  • IT/OT Convergence:Architecture cybersecurity data integration and operational alignment

Qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in utility technology consulting or related leadership roles
  • Deep hands-on understanding of electric utility IT and OT environments (T&D focus)
  • Demonstrated ability to engage credibly in technical conversations with utility engineering and architecture leaders
  • Proventrack recordof originating shaping and closing complex deals ($5M)
  • Experience working within or closely with large IOUs (preferably PG&E or similar-scale utilities)
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate technical challenges into revenue opportunities
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity connect disparate issues and synthesize into clear client solutions
  • Executive presence with a bias toward action and ownership
  • Bachelors degree with strong academic achievement; MBA or equivalent advanced technology degree preferred.
  • This role requires the ability to travel asbased on client and organizational demands. Additionally it requires the ability to be in-person at least three days a week.

Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography experience skills education and internal equity. Employees in proximity of our Seattle Washington DC Los Angeles New York and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale.
