In addition to base compensation this role is eligible to participate in Cementations discretionary corporate bonus program.
Further employees based at the North Bay Maintenance Facility may from time to time be assigned to project sites based on operational requirements. Eligible project assignments may include a site premium for hours worked on site in accordance with company policy.

ABOUT THIS POSITION
Reporting to the Equipment & Shop Manager - Americas the Heavy Duty Mechanic performs the overhaul maintenance and repair of all surface and underground mining equipment including stationary and shaft equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation.
- Ensure he or she understands the company policies and works in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Ensures adequate measures are taken to deal with any known hazard that may arise in the course of work under their control. Ensures that the hazards which cannot be eliminated immediately are reported without delay to higher authority and that personnel are aware of such hazards and of safety measures to be adopted to minimize them as far as reasonably practicable.
- Ensures personal protective equipment is used as required.
- Utilizes proper procedures for mechanical duties and strictly adheres to the project lock out policy
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives oral or written instructions from supervisor and selects required materials and equipment to perform the job.
- Follows established procedures in shutting down and disassembling equipment replacing damaged or worn parts and reassembling equipment replacing damaged or worn parts and re-assembling and testing equipment to perform to required specifications.
- Inspects lubricates adjusts and reports any condition that may cause premature breakdowns.
- Repairs rebuilds modifies and/or adjusts equipment and parts to suit production requirements.
- Repairs and maintains all equipment in accordance with the preventative maintenance program.
- Ensures all required log books are maintained and updated. Submits oral and written reports relevant to job duties.
- Maintains a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace.
- Utilizes the 5 point safety system as specified within the site safety management system.
- Tradespersons must ensure they have a good understanding of the mechanical systems mechanical procedures and maintenance programs.
- Prepare specifications and assist procurement and undertake proper storage of adequate inventories of required equipment and parts.
- Maintain and update all required log books.
- Other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT
- This position has the requirement for occasional travel to our project sites and offices.
- Travel period may range from one day to several weeks.
- Travel may include overseas assignments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- None
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant College or University Education.
- 5 years related experience in the maintenance and repair of mining or heavy mobile equipment.
- Licenced Provincial or Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers licence and passport
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Provide professional and courteous interaction with all Cementation stakeholders.
- Perform work in accordance with all organization as well as provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation ensuring highest standard of safety is upheld.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- Familiar with heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to lift objects up to 75 lbs.
