Salary Range: $52000 - $65000 per year (commensurate with experience and education)
Term: Full-time 1-year contract with the possibility of transitioning to permanent employment.
Reports To: Payroll & HR Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Payroll Clerk at SkyCare is responsible for processing employee payroll accurately and on time ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations. This role supports the Finance and HR teams by maintaining payroll records administering employee pay data maintains confidentiality of sensitive data resolving discrepancies and assisting with payroll-related reporting and inquiries in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll on a scheduled basis (semi - monthly) with a high level of accuracy.
  • Collect verify and enter employee timecards hours worked overtime and other earnings.
  • Review payroll data for completeness and resolve discrepancies prior to processing.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records including new hires terminations rate changes and deductions.
  • Calculate wages review statutory deductions (CPP EI income tax) and other payroll withholdings.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian employment standards tax regulations and company policies.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports ROEs T4s and assist with year-end processing.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay deductions vacation pay and benefits in a timely and professional manner.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with audits or internal reviews as required.
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure data accuracy and payroll integrity.
  • Support continuous improvement of payroll processes and internal controls.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management.

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field (preferred).
  • 13 years of payroll or accounting experience; aviation or multi-location payroll experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation tax requirements and employment standards.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
