TheRole:We areseekinga dynamic and principled leader to serve asAssociate General CounselHead ofPrivacy& Data Protection. This individualwill be a visible leader across S&P Global providing advice on legal andcomplianceissues relating toglobalprivacyartificial intelligencecybersecurity and incident responseanddata governancematters.Your work will span global privacy and data compliance programs including GDPRDORACCPA as amended by CPRAthe EU AI Actandotherapplicable laws & regulations as well asoverseeingS&PGlobalsglobal privacy reporting obligations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a comprehensiveglobalprivacy and data protection legal strategy acrossS&P Globalensuring compliance with applicable privacy regulations
Oversee globaldataprivacyand protectionprogram governance including policy development training initiatives and compliance monitoring.
Lead legal response to complex privacy and data incidents partnering with Information Securitysenior leadership and other stakeholders to manage regulatory legal and reputational risk.
Act as the primary legal interface with Information Security leadership advising on security governance incident readiness and regulatory expectations tied to cybersecurity and operational resilience.
Adviseonlegal and regulatory issues arising from S&PGlobalsdevelopment and deployment of artificial intelligence including responsible AI governance model risk and emerging AI legislation.
Guide and mentor asmallglobal teamof privacy attorneys and professionals setting clear expectations supporting development and fostering a highperformance collaborative team culture.
Translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear actionable guidance for technical and business stakeholders.
Partner withlegal andbusiness leaders to assess privacydata protectionand AIrisks in new products services and data processing activities providing practical legal solutions.
Monitor and interpret emerging global privacydatacybersecurity andAIregulations translating legal developments into actionable guidance and proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Represent Legalas a thought leader on privacydata protectionand AIcontributing to internal education crossfunctional initiatives and external engagement whereappropriate.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $177036 to $309783. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individuals geographic location as well as experience level skill set training licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

WhatWereLooking For
Basic Required Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution with admission and good standing in at least onejurisdiction and the ability to practice effectively in a complex multinational regulatory environment.
15 years of progressive legal experiencecounseling onglobalprivacy and cybersecurity laws and regulationsimpactingthe financial services data and technologyindustry; experience advising on AI governance and emerging AI regulation strongly preferred.
Demonstrated strong legal and business judgment and strategic thinkingin a rapidly evolving regulatory landscapewith strong ability to prioritize and focus on critical initiatives; strives for operational excellence and holds teams accountable.
Exceptional public speaking and written communication abilities complete with strategic influencing acumen must be clear and concise.
Excellentinterpersonal skills and ability to interact with members of senior management as well as adaptability and willingness to take on a wide variety of new tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Deep technical competence with the ability to understand and analyze the breadth of S&PGlobalsproducts and services including data-driven and AI-enabled offerings comfortable engaging credibly with technical teams.
Operate as a player-coach able to get into the details and execute while supporting and building a collaborative team.
