About the Role

You will be an important member ofourMental Health teamby ensuring the delivery ofhigh-qualityperson-centredcare to all patients.You will work within multi-disciplinary teams to provide effective and efficient evidence-based care whilst alsodemonstratingcommitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

  • Manage time effectively organising daily workload through prioritisation anddemonstratepunctuality
  • Use the principles of evidence-based practice and access relevant current literature in making assessments and formulating management decisions
  • Use clear communication with patients with awareness of cultural religious and gender difference
  • Recognise the ethical complexity of medical practice and follow professional and ethical codes
  • Provide clear and comprehensive handover information to senior clinicians colleaguesnursesand allied health professionals) in particularonvery sickpatients.
  • Respect the leadership role and the varied other roles and responsibilities within a team
  • Complywithrelevantlegalrequirements andorganizationalpoliciesregardinghealthrecords andtimelyandaccuratepatient documentation and statisticaldata.

Training rotations availableinclude: general adult inpatient and community psychiatry child and adolescent mental health Kooriconsultation-liaisonpsycho-oncology psychogeriatrics dual diagnosis perinatal psychiatry and psychiatry in theprivate setting.

There is an extensive academic and educational program available to trainees at StVincents Mental Health. St Vincents has a particular commitment to providing a comprehensive training program which includes quality experience in psychotherapy (supported by our Head of Psychotherapy Training) and an active examination preparation addition to RANZCP Supervision a senior psychiatrist supports our inpatient registrars with a reflective practice group.

  • Registration with the AHPRA or eligibility for general registration

To be registered to commence training in Victoria you need to be selected by the VPTC selection committee of the RANZCP and matched to an accredited training position at a Victorian Health Service.
