Facilities Grounds Keeper
Located in the North Thompson valley at Simpcw Resources Group we provide environmental management and operational services while preserving Simpcw culture and heritage with respect towards the environment. Our goals include creating economic growth from the commercial development of natural resources within the Simpcwulécw (Simpcw Territory) by being the major contractor and competing for work in both the public and private sectors.
Current Opportunities:
Reporting to our Asset Manager the Facilities Grounds Keeper will be responsible for ensuring the proper upkeep safety and appearance of multiple Simpcw Resources Group office buildings as well as our local retail businesses and their surrounding parking lots.
Responsibilities:
- Perform regular maintenance and upkeep of grounds including mowing trimming weeding watering and planting.
- Maintain landscaping to ensure a clean safe and attractive appearance of all outdoor areas.
- Conduct snow and ice removal from parking lots walkways and entrances to ensure safe access during winter months.
- Complete minor facility repairs such as painting light fixture replacement plumbing fixes and general handyman tasks.
- Inspect buildings grounds and equipment regularly to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with seasonal projects preventive maintenance and coordination of outside contractors when needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and maintain cleanliness of maintenance areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in maintenance landscaping or a related field is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.
- Proven ability and experience in safely operating vehicles with a small trailer.
- Previous experience in groundskeeping landscaping snow removal or facility maintenance.
- Basic knowledge
of tools equipment and safety procedures related to maintenance and grounds care. - Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting shoveling and operating outdoor equipment in various weather conditions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliability attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean safe and well-kept facilities.
- Experience working with First Nations people is valued
- Knowledge of the Simpcw First Nations community is valued
