Job Summary:

We have 2-3 open IOP Behavioral Health Counselor positions within the Perinatal Reproductive and Early Childhood Section. These positions are a mix of FTE in our Virtual Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (PIPER) and our new Perinatal Substance Use Intensive Outpatient Services. This position can be 0.5 FTE - 1.0 FTE and can be stand alone or supplemented by outpatient and integrated services.

The primary responsibility of this clinician is to provide clinical care for individuals infants and families in the perinatal period including intake evaluations individual and group therapy documentation and attendance at team meetings. Additional responsibilities include coverage of group therapy activities within the Perinatal Mental Health IOP during early development or clinician PTO and providing brief counselling services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for patients referred to the intensive outpatient programs.

  • Provide group or individual therapy services as needed.

  • Documents patient encounters in a timely manner and in compliance with all institutional requirements.

  • Maintains a good working relationship and ongoing communication with referral sources and other members of the treatment team.

  • Promotes a positive working environment

  • Support clinical research and innovation activities for perinatal mental health populations.

The perinatal clinical team provides patient-centered and evidence-based care aimed to promote wellness in women across the lifespan. Our dynamic interdisciplinary team of psychologists psychiatrists and social workers work collaboratively with primary care providers and specialists to provide consultative services and problem-focused care for women with behavioral health concerns related to periods of reproductive transition or medical conditions or treatment impacting reproductive hormones and well-being. We aim to maintain and expand access to care by implementing innovative models of clinical care providing interdisciplinary clinical training and deepening collaborative community and public partnerships.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Rank at the time of appointment will be based on the candidates demonstrated contributions and experience in teaching clinical research and/or service to the field. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:

  • Masters degree in Counseling Social Work Addictions Psychology or Related Field.

  • Active Colorado License for LPC LCSW or LAC.

  • 1 years clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience working in perinatal mental health clinical work public health early childhood and/or related fields.

Sr. Instructor:

  • Masters degree in Counseling Social Work Addictions Psychology or Related Field.

  • Active Colorado License for LPC LCSW or LAC.

  • 1-3 years clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience working in perinatal mental health clinical work public health early childhood and/or related fields.

Track:

Open Track: To support the growth of our faculty selected candidates at the Assistant Professor level or higher will be offered the opportunity to choose a track that corresponds to their area of excellence. Learn more about faculty tracks at the Offices for the Faculty Experience

Ranks of Instructor and Senior Instructor will be on the TTE track and given an opportunity to switch tracks if needed at a later time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of mental health issues and disorders specifically perinatal mood anxiety and substance use disorders.

  • IOP Clinical Experience

  • Experience with EPIC

  • Experience with and/or training in perinatal infant and early childhood mental health

  • Circle of Security Training

  • Experience with crisis management and high acuity mental health care

  • Experience with and/or training in group therapy modalities

  • Knowledge and experience of ASAM Criteria and Assessments

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatments for mental health conditions and awareness of resources in Colorado communities
  • Must have ability to engage with health care providers office managers psychiatric providers.
  • Must have ability to engage in phone calls or email with patients with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
  • Must be comfortable with case management and coordination of care.
  • Must be able to triage effectively based on expressed acuity by the health care provider about the consultation.
  • Must be efficient with time management and attention to detail
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse patient populations providers and staff
  • Must be able to comply with established rules policies and procedures and meet deadlines.
  • Self-directed and flexible ability to use independent judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • General knowledge of health care systems payors and care navigation.
  • Must have ability to be nonjudgmental and respectful of others beliefs values and culture.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn software programs.
  • Must have experience using Electronic Health Record and Patient Health Information management systems.
