Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director University Galleries the Engagement and Outreach Manager is responsible for implementing Galleries initiatives for engagement programs partnerships and outreach across the University community and with the community at large. The Engagement and Outreach Manager fosters partnerships with the Galleries to support the institutions commitment to being diverse inclusive equitable and accessible. Provides comprehensive exhibition programming support in collaboration with the Director curators artists and University stakeholders throughout all phases of planning installation and presentation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides oversight of front-of-house and exhibition operations establishing procedures performance standards and workflow systems that support efficient daily operations and successful exhibition delivery.
Plans and manages education and public programs aligned with exhibition schedules including project timelines shared calendars installation schedules space use staffing plans run-of-show documentation and coordination of technology and facilities needs.
Oversees all University Galleries student employees including recruitment hiring training scheduling supervision and performance management in accordance with University guidelines; establishes staffing plans and front-of-house procedures to ensure consistent visitor services.
Administers exhibition and program agreements in coordination with University Counsel including artist collaboration license and vendor contracts; maintains centralized administrative records exhibition calendars and documentation systems for planning and institutional recordkeeping.
Manages financial administration for exhibitions and programs including budget tracking expenditure monitoring invoice processing vendor relations and payments to artists and service providers; supports cost-sharing and reimbursement documentation.
Coordinates logistics for visiting artists lenders and collaborators including travel itineraries hospitality and scheduling aligned with exhibition timelines; supports installation and deinstallation planning and related documentation.
Collaborates with the Director guest curators and artists on public-facing digital and interpretive initiatives including Bloomberg Connects content.
Manages and develops tour programs including training and supervision of student educators.
Serves as liaison with staff faculty students community partners and the public; develops interdisciplinary partnerships and collaborates across University units to promote and advance educational and public programs.
Works with University staff on marketing and communications strategies for programs and exhibitions including the development of print and digital materials; advances the integration of technology and virtual engagement tools.
Assesses barriers to participation and advances accessibility initiatives including touch collections visual imaging tours ASL-interpreted tours audio description captioning and language translation.
Compiles and analyzes demographic data and program outcomes.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in art history education museum studies or a related discipline.
A minimum of three years of relevant experience working in a museum or gallery setting.
Experience planning developing and implementing programs in a museum setting or comparable organization.
Excellent public speaking writing and editing skills.
Strong organizational planning and management skills.
Ability to take part in programs outside of normal office hours travel work evenings and/or weekends as necessary in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
Ability to work effectively in a changing environment including changing work demands procedures technology or priorities.
PREFERRED:
Masters degree from an accredited institution in art history education museum studies or a related discipline.
Experience planning developing and implementing education programs in an art museum.
Previous experience in a college/university museum.
Past experience teaching in higher education.
Experience working with underserved groups and with the development of tours and programs including those for visitors with special needs.
Proficiency in current social media platforms as well as audience evaluation and implementation of visitor surveys.

Salary Range
