Job Summary
PTS Advance is lookingfor multiple Control Systems Designers and Engineers.
The positions could be based at various locations: Walnut Creek (CA) Bellingham (WA) Billings (MT) Salt Lake City (UT) Denver (CO) or Anchorage (AK).
Hybrid schedule: 2 days from home/3 days from the office.
Control Systems Designers and Engineers (Multiple Positions)
We are seeking Control Systems Designers and Engineers at various experience levels to support industrial automation and control system projects. These roles involve developing control system designs preparing construction drawing packages and supporting project execution from concept through commissioning.
Successful candidates will have strong technical skills the ability to work independently or as part of a team and experience supporting stage-gated industrial projects. Senior candidates will also mentor junior team members and help lead design efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop control system design packages in collaboration with engineers and project teams
- Interpret P&IDs and translate them into control system drawings and documentation
- Prepare construction drawings including:
- Block diagrams wiring diagrams and loop drawings
- Control panel layouts and equipment arrangements
- Cable conduit and routing schedules
- Installation details Bills of Materials (BOMs) and material take-offs
- Coordinate design activities with electrical mechanical and piping disciplines
- Review vendor documentation and incorporate into project designs
- Support project planning scheduling and design deliverables
- Perform quality checks on drawings and design documents
- Conduct site visits to verify existing systems and support field implementation
- Mentor junior designers and engineers (senior roles)
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in industrial control systems design (PLC DCS and instrumentation)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (or similar design software)
- Ability to read and develop P&IDs wiring diagrams and control system documentation
- Experience designing control panels wiring systems and industrial communication networks
- Familiarity with industrial codes standards and hazardous area requirements
- Strong organizational communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Engineering Engineering Technology or related discipline
- Experience with industrial projects in oil & gas mining manufacturing or similar industries
- Experience with SPI (INtools) MicroStation or 3D design tools
- Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
- Field experience supporting installation commissioning or maintenance
- Mentoring or leadership experience (senior roles)
Experience Levels
We are hiring for multiple positions ranging from intermediate to senior levels. Responsibilities and leadership expectations will vary based on experience.
COMPENSATION: Rate $50.00 - $80.00 hourly (depending on experience)
