Job Summary
Team Red Dog is hiring a Senior Hardware Design Engineer (Plastics & Materials) for our client a Fortune 100 technology leader and global digital solutions company. This role sits at the intersection of hardware engineering product design and materials science with a strong focus on plastics resin development and color/material design. You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering manufacturing and supplier teams to drive product development testing and validation from concept through production readiness. This is a highly impactful role where your expertise in hardware design material specification and supplier coordination directly influences product quality scalability and innovation.
Top Required Skills (Must Haves):
- Resin color matching hands-on experience developing testing and validating color/material specifications for plastic components in production environments.
- Product development and specification creation ability to define and document hardware/material specs including PSCS and CMD processes supporting design through manufacturing.
- Supplier collaboration proven experience working with external vendors and manufacturing partners to ensure material quality consistency and scalability.
- Plastics and material design expertise deep understanding of polymers resins and their application in consumer or commercial hardware products.

How you will make an impact:
Partner with design and engineering teams to develop and refine hardware components with a focus on plastics and materials
Lead resin color matching and material specification processes to ensure product consistency and quality
Create and manage product specifications including PSCS documentation and CMD coordination
Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support product development and production readiness
Build test and validate prototypes using both physical and simulation-based methods
Analyze hardware configurations cost constraints and performance requirements to optimize design outcomes
Monitor product performance and implement improvements to meet engineering and manufacturing standards
The expertise you bring:
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field
57 years of experience in hardware design engineering with a focus on plastics or materials
Strong knowledge of polymers resins and material applications in product design
Experience with engineering design tools technical drawings and specification development
Familiarity with hardware prototyping testing and validation processes
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external suppliers
Solid understanding of engineering principles problem-solving and analytical thinking
