Software Engineer Mid Level

Join our Strategic Innovation Center in Blacksburg VA and support exciting projects across Peraton in areas such as communications space cybersecurity defense health and mobile. Youll work in an Agile software development environment supporting requirements/story development software architecture and design software development and unit/component testing.

Required Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience working as a full-stack software engineer
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or a related field
• Experience developing with Java and Python along with a demonstrated ability to pick up new programming languages and technologies quickly
• Experience with AI-assisted development platforms such as Claude Code GitHub CoPilot and/or Codex
• Experience with front-end development technologies (HTML CSS and JavaScript) and JavaScript frameworks (React and/or Angular)
• Experience developing web services and web applications
• Experience working with SQL databases (Postgres MySQL and/or MSSQL)
• Experience with containerization using Docker
• Experience working in an Agile software development environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated independent detail oriented responsible team-player
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working with a broad range of programming languages such as C C# and Golang
• Experience working with AI technologies such as LLMs RAG and TensorFlow
• Prior experience working with DevSecOps processes and tools
• Experience with AWS technologies such EC2 S3 Lambda and VPC
• Experience with deploying software into cloud environments particularly AWS using technologies such as Ansible Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with mobile development using Android Studio Flutter Kotlin and/or Swift
• Prior experience providing technical leadership to a team or mentoring to junior personnel
• Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action and an ability to find innovative ways to solve problems
