Position Summary

Responsible for overall coordination direction and support of the BMCC Foundation using guidelines authorized by the BMCC Foundation Board of Directors and the College President. This position has the overall responsibility for College development and the fundraising efforts of the foundation; cultivates relationships with individuals and organizations to develop their interest in foundation activities; solicits contributions and manages foundation events. Carries out the mission of the Foundation to help increase public awareness of the College and raise private funds for student scholarships and aid faculty development special projects facilities and equipment that will lead to enhanced learning and benefit the community. Actively participates in College and community activities. Performs all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the BMCC Mission Vision and Strategic Plan.

Essential Functions

Fundraising

Overall responsibility for developing and implementing a strategic development plan for the Foundation including fundraising and event planning.

Implements the strategies and reaches the development goals set by the Foundation board; identifies develops and pursues opportunities for individuals businesses and foundations to become donors.

Coordinate and participate in fundraising activities including solicitation annual campaigns major gift drives capital campaigns and other fundraising activities.

Provides potential planned giving donors information on the Foundations planned giving program including policies and procedures.

Represents the College and Foundation at community events and serves on appropriate boards and committees promoting the interests of the Foundation.

Implements and manages a donor retention plan and overall fundraising strategies.

As requested assist the College in fundraising for specific department needs capital campaigns and friend-raising events that promote the mission of the College.

Administrative

Manages operations of the Foundation including coordination of Foundation Board and Board and committee meetings and coordination with Director of Marketing & Communications; Manager of Annual Giving & Alumni Engagement and Development Officer.

Maintains records of contacts referrals and results related to solicitation of gifts and donations; prepares reports on activities.

Evaluates proposed donations and recommends acceptance or denial according to Foundation policies.

Provides the Board with information on finances fundraising donors and operations as requested.

Writes reports needed to inform the Board and College of goals and progress including monthly report to the Board of Education.

Coordinates training for the Foundation Board on appropriate topics.

Monitors Foundation Board engagement in fundraising planning and events and activities.

Budget

Prepares the annual budget for Foundation Board approval.

Works with the College financial staff to manage Foundation financial record-keeping prepare quarterly financial reports and assist with annual audit.

Manages processing of donor in-kind and equipment gifts to assure compliance with foundation policies.

Works with Foundation committees to oversee investment of Foundation assets award scholarships and carry out the fiduciary responsibilities of the Foundation.

Manager of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement; Development Officer; Event Manager and Work study and/or Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) Students.

Other Aspects of this Position

Flexible hours requiring evenings and weekends.

Travel between campus/centers; off-campus events and professional development as needed valid drivers license required.

Ability to lift 35 pounds.



Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess the following knowledge skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities:

Must have well-developed interpersonal and oral and written communication skills including the ability to use correct grammar spelling and syntax.

Demonstrated successful experience in fundraising.

Knowledge of planned giving/estate planning endowments and the legal aspects of these.

Effective organization and follow-through skills including the ability to plan and execute multiple projects and events as well as the ability to work independently.

Experience in working with boards and committees.

Experience working in higher education preferred with extra preference for experience working in community colleges.

Knowledge about the role and mission of community colleges.

Ability to create and manage a budget.

Ability to use selected computer software Microsoft Suite (Word Excel Publisher); Adobe Graphics Suite; and a variety of telecommunications equipment.

Familiarity with Umatilla Morrow and Baker counties preferred.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in Business Communications Marketing Philanthropy or equivalent.

Five years of management and leadership experience that includes one or more of the following: fundraising and donor development reporting to high-level executive board and verbal and written presentation.
