Tender Offload Personnel (TV Hannah)

SUMMARY

Northline Seafoods is seeking experienced and motivated Tender Offload Personnel to support our team during in-season operations in Bristol Bay AK. This role will focus heavily on crane operations for offloading salmon from tenders to meet overall production goals. The position may also include off-season work in the final processing of Bristol Bay salmon in Bellingham WA. As our company grows we are looking for candidates with a true all-hands-on-deck mindset. This is a position aboard a stationary floating processing facility anchored near Dillingham AK.

Important Travel Note: As of May 7 2025 a REAL ID-compliant identification is required for domestic air travel including flights to Alaska. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement prior to hire.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Support the safe and efficient tying of tender vessels crane operations recordkeeping and offloading of fish from tenders
• Distribute slurry ice to tender vessels in support of Northline quality goals
• Assist with the loading unloading and proper stowage/lashing of all cargo on the barge
• Safely and efficiently operate cranes to pump fish and move cargo to and from tenders
• Assist in tying and untying of tender vessels
• Ensure proper and safe line handling with the ability to splice lines and make slings
• Provide maintenance repair and basic troubleshooting of fish pumping activities
• Keep deck and storage areas clean organized and support all top-deck cargo movements and operations
• Assist the Freight & Net Coordinator with moving and loading fisher gear
• Complete all safety training and documentation as required by local state and federal regulations with emphasis on Coast Guard requirements
• Support cross-department operations as a member of the Hannah and Northline team assisting other departments as needed (e.g. helping with fish in production during peak periods)
• Complete all other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 18 years old
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a deckhand with emphasis on boat tie-ups fish pumping and crane operation
• Crane and forklift experience is required
• Must be able to routinely work 12 hour shifts and occasionally 16 hour shifts during peak season

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of principles and methods for safely moving numerous types of cargo on a stationary floating processing facility
• Knowledge of Bristol Bay operations and servicing a large fleet of tenders and fishing boats
• Knowledge of proper use of emergency equipment located on the barge
• Ability to solve problems and make clear rational decisions in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to complete duties with minimal supervision
• Positive all-hands-on-deck attitude

This job operates primarily aboard a stationary floating processing facility anchored near Dillingham AK and at the dock in Bellingham WA. This role routinely uses equipment common in transferring and moving cargo including cranes lines slings spreader bars etc. Additionally this position will require advanced knowledge of fish pump setup and maintenance. Employee must be able stand walk and generally navigate a wet and cold barge environment for long periods of time. Employee must be able to navigate tight spaces and climb multiple flights of stairs without assistance. Ability to lift 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Employees will be exposed to various weather conditions in Alaska and Washington.
