About the company
Our client is one of the most well established conglomerates in Hong Kong with offices and operations across the globe. The company is currently looking to hire a Director of Technology and Intellectual Property to join their team as they have expanded their innovation portfolio.
About the role
Reporting to the GM this position will promote adoption of new technologies by performing technology assessments market evaluations and patentability analyses often for complex and multi-faceted commercial opportunities. Leading a team you will conduct research and analysis to identify commercial IT applications and determine commercial potential within the various market applications. Aside from working with internal stakeholders you will identify external partner and ways to position technologies in a competitive environment for their greatest commercial success. Lastly evaluate intellectual property potential conduct preliminary patent searches and patentability analyses.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or any related discipline
- 10 years of combined experience in the following functions: research development operations business development intellectual property management innovation development technology commercialisation
- Knowledge to assess IP and its impact generate licensing opportunities negotiate terms and execute agreements
- Strong leadership communication research/analytical organisational creative and problem-solving skills
- Experience with building and launching new tech products
- Having worked in a start-up environment or ran your own company will be an advantage
- Good command in Chinese and English
