Job Description

The Family and Child Innovations Program (FCHIP) at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Childrens Hospital of Chicago aims to advance childrens well-being through understanding the roles of parents in a wide variety of family contexts. FCHIP is a ground breaker in research focusing on the role of fathers in the health of children and families. As the home of the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System for Dads (PRAMS for Dads) project the team collaborates with state departments of public health to carry out population-representative surveys of new fathers to gain insights on their health behaviors influence on the family and their needs during the transition to parenthood. This position will support operations for the PRAMS for Dads project including outreach to participants through mail and over the phone. The applicant will be expected to closely follow protocols and maintain detailed documentation of study activities. Bachelors degree and experience and/or training in research and public health preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Performs administrative tasks to support research team (scheduling ordering printing filing etc.)
a. Schedule meetings for the FCHIP team student research assistants and state team partners
b. Coordinate development of meeting agendas
c. Take notes during meetings
2. Assists with literature searches QA/QC procedures and tracks timelines.
a. Engage in process improvement initiatives supporting the PRAMS for Dads project
b. Maintain strict timelines for study activities
c. Assist with literature searches for FCHIP website posts grant development and academic output
3. Assists with study start-up and maintains study and regulatory documents.
a. Ensure protocol documents are up to date
b. Collaborate with team members to continuously improve documentation and resources for the internal team and external partners
c. May assist in setting up REDCap databases
4. Assists in scheduling study visits delivering behavioral interventions and reimbursement of participants in coordination with the PI and study team.
a. Follow detailed protocol for contacting research participants through the mail and over the phone
b. Distribute gift cards through the online platform Tango and through the mail
c. Utilize REDCap and Excel to track study activities and participant reimbursement
5. Prepares necessary supplies for study visits (consent forms data collection materials etc.)
a. Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Mailings function in Word) to create personalized letters and mailing labels to send to research participants
b. Assemble mailings (letters mailed packets etc.) for study participants
6. Assists in the collection of data from research participants and/or medical records as authorized.
a. Call text and email research participants to remind them to complete surveys
b. Maintain detailed participant contact records within REDCap
7. Supports data entry and maintains/updates databases as needed.
a. Enter data from completed paper surveys
b. Check surveys submitted online for completion and validity
8. Maintains inventory of supplies and facilitates ordering as required.
a. Maintain organization of study materials
b. Maintain inventory of mailing supplies and coordinate with other hospital teams and departments to order additional supplies
9. Engages in professional development opportunities such as clinical and research meetings seminars and related activities.
10. Other job functions as assigned.
a. May include collaborating on FCHIP website updates and email newsletters

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree required. A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience is directly related to the duties of the job.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Good verbal and written communications skills.

  • Some knowledge of FDA HSR and GCP Guidelines.

  • Proficient analytical skills with the ability to remain agile and adaptable to various technological systems.

Pay Range

$46280.00-$75670.40 Salary

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
