This posting is for the position of Deputy Design technical supervisor of Compression Systems Advanced Engine Programs (AEP). Candidate should be leadership oriented and highly motivated. This individual will lead the design team administratively and technically under the guidance of the Associate Director whom the candidate reports to. Deputy needs ability to represent or stand in for supervisor when unavailable. Responsibilities include integration within the AEP CIPT and with partners mating modules and system design disciplines in execution of design tasks supporting an array of AEP AEP covers tasks of both Commercial and Military nature and is responsible for Design from nosecone/spinner through HPC EGV. Therefore candidates with experience throughout; Compressor part families and modules of civil and military application are the most suited for position. Role requires exceptional people and problem solving skills task execution accountability and enabling staffing strategies that fulfill the business and Program needs. Candidate provides oversite and approval of standard work and product definition staff career development and coordination of Product Review Database entries including records and action item/review closure.
What You Will Learn
AEP tasks run a large gamut of assignments. Currently FAA CLEEN III noise reduction Eagle Blend Fan & HPC rigs increased airfoil blend allowance HPC Technology Rig(s) JetZero PW2040 on new airframe SWITCH enable hybrid electric testing AMPS (Collaborative Combat Aircraft) inlet generator support on PWC engine Composite Fan blade and associated module technologies. These are the major programs. There are other tasks like; Cycle Studies being performed technologies advanced and process innovation ongoing.
What You Will Do
- Assist Design Associate Director in organizing and managing task assignments & planning manpower requirements and coordinating in-house and outsource resources. This may involve writing and closing out Statements of Work (SOW).
- Provide performance feedback and results for the group as well as coach train and develop junior design engineers.
- Conceptual Engineering devising something that has not existed or been combined in similar way before.
- Role is expected to result in several patent applications a year.
- Provide support for multidiscipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability performance cost and weight.
- Ensure outsourcing work is completed reviewed and approved by design associates with appropriate proficiency level.
- Coordinate with other groups (ie Instrumentation ED&L EDSI Test sites) to read across lessons learned advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods. Documentation and communication of results to management.
- Review and approve Engineering task work / EKS.
Qualifications You Must Have
- BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 10 years engineering experience OR
- Advanced degree with 7 years of experience
- 5 years of leadership experience in planning and executing engineering tasks
- U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Experience with gas turbine components with emphasis on compressors.
- Previous team leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop staff
- Experience in Teamcenter Unigraphics NX ANSYS and classical methods of analysis.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Masters degree in engineering or MBA
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
- Capability to work and lead in collaboration with other non-collocated teams.
- Ability to work across functions organizations and all levels of management

Compression Systems Engineering (CSE)
Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design development and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.
Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering Mechanical Design Structural Analysis and Product Definition.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Employee will work regularly onsite in Middletown CT. Building 140.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles commuting to and from the assigned site is the employees personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 132400 USD - 251600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
